Baby House is an orphanage that seems somewhat forgotten in a small
village near the Carpathian Mountains. Day to day life is hard at
this orphanage and it has just become unlivable because of the recent,
widespread flooding in Western Ukraine. The entire first floor of
the two story orphanage was under water and all rooms have been damaged.
Carpets, linoleum, furniture, and the whole electrical system have
been damaged and need to be replaced. No one was physically hurt during
the flooding, however the emotional toll on the children and the caretakers
must be great.
The
caretakers are trying to take care of these displaced children as
best they can, taking them to their own homes if possible. There
are currently 63 children, ages 0-4, who call Nadvirna Baby House
home.
UPDATE
New
carpeting has been installed from funds raised by a group in the
Parkland region of Manitoba, Canada.
