The
baby orphanage was in desperate need of a functional facility to
process the enormous
amount of laundry generated by approximately 150 infants and toddlers,
and the caregivers
that tend to the children's needs on a 24x7 basis.
Many,
many thanks to LAdS
for their ongoing support of our work!

2007 March: Renovations begin at the orphanage
2007 January: This project is fully funded!
2006 December: Reached the halfway mark for project funding
thanks to some sizeable donations and matching employer funds.
2006 November: Fundraising for project includes tshirt and
holiday card sales.
2006 October: After visiting with the orphanage director,
it was determined that the best way to proceed with this very large
project is in phases. Phase 1 involves repairing the ventilation
system, and was budgeted based on bids from several local contractors.
Once phase 1 has been completed we will determine the next piece
of work to be done for phase 2, and secure additional bids for its
budget.
2006 September: We have arranged a visit to the home, are
preparing the itemized list of needed equipment and supplies, determining
the labor costs for installation and renovation, and making arrangements
for the assistance we will need from Ukrainian locals to make these
changes happen in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible.
